Yellowstone is a land of many and varying colors. The meadows pass from cold white in winter to lush green in spring, to glowing gold in the autumn. Hot pools advertise their water temperature by color: Brownish algae indicate cooler water, blue and green indicate very hot. Buffalo calves are born light brown but darken to near black as they grow up. And of course, there's always the sky . . .
